2018 SEA-MW ESE Project Awards - 02.24.2018
In a proud moment, thanks to our exceptionally talented partners, Ehlert Bryan received two top honors awards at the SEA-MW Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards Gala. 455 Eye Street won the "Outstanding Project Award – New Construction $25-$75 Million" and Pier 4 at the Wharf won the "Outstanding Project Award – Renovation Under $15 Million". Thank you to our teammates on these projects, Hickok Cole Architects and StudioMB respectively, for your continued partnerships! Both of these projects showcase the proliferation of redevelopment of historic structures in our region. Projects such as these allow historic structures to be reborn, and to provide a historic backdrop for modern Washingtonians’ lives.
EB Annual Food Drive - 12.14.2017
Ehlert Bryan held our annual food drive for the eighth straight year and, as a team, we donated 370 pounds of food to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) as a part of their 2017 Holiday Food Drive. This food assistance center feeds up to 2,500 families each winter holiday season and we are happy to have supported AFAC in bringing meals to our Arlington neighbors in need.
SEA-MW Career Fair - 11.03.2017
Ehlert Bryan was a participating sponsor at the 2017 SEA-MW Career Fair - a free event held in Washington DC for undergraduates interested in pursuing structural engineering. The event was a great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to stop by our booth to learn more about the structural engineering profession, our great team work environment, and our vast array of projects.

AIA|DC awarded the 7th & Pennsylvania, SE project the Presidential Citation for Urban Catalyst for this year’s Chapter Design Awards. BASIS Independent School McLean Wins Merit Award - 08.08.2017
ENR MidAtlantic awarded the BASIS Independent School McLean project the “Award of Merit - K-12 Education”. The project, designed by Perkins Eastman Architects, is located at the former Freddie Mac campus in Tysons and the renovation included the design of more than 23 classrooms, a full-service cafeteria, biology, physics, and chemistry laboratories, a gymnasium, demonstration rooms, and outdoor and indoor play areas. Rebuilding Together Alexandria - 04.29.2017
Ehlert Bryan participated in Rebuilding Together Alexandria’s National Rebuilding Day event as part of SEA-MW’s team of volunteers. Rebuilding Together Alexandria achieves greater City well-being by maintaining affordable housing, creating homeownership opportunities, and revitalizing communities. Volunteers helped repair homes and assisted in the revitalization of community spaces that serve the City’s low-income residents. This act positively impacts the quality of life for many homeowners faced with the challenging issue of housing affordability in Alexandria, VA.

Ehlert Bryan provided structural engineering services for both the Achievement Preparatory Academy Public Charter School (Washington, DC) and the BASIS: Independent School (McLean, VA) projects. Ellsworth Place Mall Wins Merit Award - 02.25.2017
The Ellsworth Place Mall project wins a “Merit Award – Renovation Under $15 Million” at the 2017 SEA-MW Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards Gala. The project was a redevelopment of the original City Place Mall to a more “industrial, clean look”. The renovation included improvements to the mall’s connections to the surrounding streets by adding several new entrances. The layout of the mall was rearranged to improve circulation and combine smaller stores into larger, “junior anchor” spaces for national retailers. Signs, lighting and video screens were hung from the existing metal framework that wraps around the building’s older portion. The project completed Spring 2016.

Ehlert Bryan held our annual food drive for the seventh straight year and, as a team, we donated 412 pounds of food to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) as a part of their 2016 Holiday Food Drive. Ehlert Bryan participated in The Next Step: A Forum for Future Structural Engineers. Alex Salmin, principal at Ehlert Bryan, was a speaker during this event. The event, held in Washington DC, provided a great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to learn more about the structural engineering profession, connect with other local structural engineering students, meet with local professionals, participate in the career fair, and get exposure to future potential employers.
One Loudoun Garage Wins Design Build Award - 10.04.2016
The One Loudoun Parking Garage won the 2016 Design Build Award for Projects $5-$15 Million by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of DC. This five-level, 791-space parking garage serves the retail and entertainments needs of the One Loudoun development in downtown Ashburn, Virginia.

SEA-MW's 2016 Outstanding Project Award - 02.20.2016
The Mall of San Juan, Puerto Rico project wins the “Outstanding Project Award – New Construction Over $75 Million” at the 2016 SEA-MW Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards Gala. The project, designed by Hobbs + Black Architects, consists of a complex design of a stunning, 634,000 SF, new shopping mall centrally located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Extravagant entry areas welcome visitors with being up to five stories high. Construction of the mall is steel framed and incorporates concrete shear walls, x-braced frames, and RBS and SidePlate moment frames for lateral design to support the high seismic and wind forces in Puerto Rico. The garages are precast concrete. The design also includes coordination with the developers of two anchor stores and a hotel. The mall’s Grand Opening date was March 23, 2015.
SEA-MW's 2016 Chairperson’s Award - 02.20.2016
Thomas Bouffard proudly accepted the Chairperson’s Award acknowledging his leadership and positive influence to the structural engineering community in the Washington, DC area. Mr. Bouffard served as the Chairperson in 1998 and 2013 for the Structural Engineers Association of Metropolitan Washington. As a strong member of the organization, his prime motive is to improve business and engineering services, and promote the field of structural engineering. He has and continues, to educate new and current members of sound business practices, reducing risk, and improving service in the industry.
CANstruction Competition & Food Drive - 11.30.2015
Ehlert Bryan teamed with Hickok Cole Architects and Bohler Engineering participating in the Annual 2015 CANstrution competition held at the National Building Museum. The choice of structure to build: The Scooby Doo, mean green Mystery Machine! After 6 hours of hard work, the team successfully built the imaginative structure out of the donated cans. Votes were calculated and the team proudly received the “People’s Choice Awards”. The donated goods from our employees and others benefitted the Capital Area Food Bank.
