Overall Building from S & E University

A 13-story 230,000 SF mixed-use multifamily building adjacent to the University of Michigan’s central campus.

The Project

A new 13-story mixed-use project with a partial basement. The 230,000 SF building includes retail on the first floor, office and retail on the second and third floors, and ten levels of apartments above. The 57 apartment units range from two to six bedrooms per apartment and are meant mostly as housing for university students. Other building amenities include roof-top patios, interior lounges, fitness and yoga rooms, and study areas.

Structural Features

The upper ten stories are framed with thin concrete slabs on an open-web, composite steel joist system supported on load bearing, light gage metal stud walls. The bearing walls are transferred out at the third floor with a structural steel frame and composite concrete floor slabs. Precast concrete stair and elevator towers provide the building’s lateral system.
