Renovation of an existing middle school to improve and increase access to natural light.
The Project
This project was a general renovation of an existing middle school that included bringing more natural light to rooms by adding skylights to interior classrooms, adding and enlarging windows to perimeter classrooms, and installing a large new skylight at the media center.
Structural Features
Concrete areaways and retaining walls were added to facilitate the installation of windows at partially underground portions of the building. Structural improvements included reinforcing joists to support new mechanical equipment.
