A new church and school for the Our Lady of Hope parish in Loudoun County, Virginia

The Project

A new two-story 32,500 SF church with two partial mezzanines, a two-story 30,000 SF school with a gymnasium, classrooms, media, and support rooms, and a two-story 7,000 SF rectory. The campus is located on a 12-acre sloping, wooded site in a residential area. The parish asked for a modern interpretation of the French Gothic style.

Structural Features

The construction of the church is a steel-framed roof system and a composite concrete and steel floor system. The school has a wood truss roof and a bar joist floor system with masonry walls. The rectory consists of conventional residential wood framing.
