A new two-story medical office building providing technologically advanced cancer treatment in East Lansing, Michigan.
The Project
A new two-story cancer treatment center which includes a one-story linear accelerator structure. The new medical office building provides state-of-the art radiation and oncology treatment with future plans for medical infusion.
Structural Features
The main office building is a steel-framed structure with composite concrete floors on steel beams at the second level and a steel joist and metal deck roof. The structure housing the linear accelerator was designed with concrete walls and roof that are up to 4 feet thick to contain the radiation. The foundation for the linear accelerator vault is a mat foundation with a topping slab that was coordinated with equipment requirements. Additionally, the walls and roof were designed for hung and mounted equipment.
