A mixed-use facility that is the first fire station/affordable housing project in the United States. The space uses special accommodations to account for noise reduction in the residential units.

The Project

A new mixed-use facility that is the first fire station/affordable housing project in the United States. The fire station includes four equipment bays, offices, day spaces, support spaces, private bunkrooms with lockers, and on-site training features. The project also includes four floors of housing above the station, the majority of which fall within affordable housing requirements. The residential portion of the building includes community meeting rooms, a rooftop terrace, two levels of below-grade parking, and ground level retail space.

Structural Features

The below grade parking and fire station, and the transfer slab above are framed with cast-in-place concrete. The residential units are wood-framed. Special accommodations were incorporated to limit sound transfer between the fire station below and the residential units above.
