Blast and Progressive Collapse

Many General Services Administration (GSA), Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal, state and local government agency projects now require new and existing building structures be designed to reduce the potential of progressive collapse for facilities that may experience structural damage through blast loading or other unforeseen events.

Our firm provides services for design of structures both to resist progressive collapse and to resist the effect of blast loads, and we are familiar with both GSA and DoD (UFC) requirements for progressive collapse resistant design. Our technical expertise in the field of progressive collapse resistance allows us to use advanced non-linear methods of structural analysis which are known to significantly increase the economy of the structural framing. As a result, we are able to provide cost-competitive designs which meet project specifications.

We are also experienced in investigation of the global and local effects of blast loads on building structures. We have successfully incorporated requirements for blast resistance into the structural design of numerous projects.
